I think, as with our new government, it is definitely time for a change. 3-5-2 has stood us in good stead in the past with the players and skill-sets they had, but I think the time has come to try something new. Even if it takes a few games to bed in a new formation, it’s surely got to be worth trying after what we saw last season.
Also, it might be good to try to build a formation around the players’ skills, especially if we are finally able to try some of the younger players or engage new ones. I do love a winger and would love to see them in a Sheffield United team, although as you say, it is a particular talent.
I really enjoyed watching the pre-season friendly against York yesterday and seeing the younger players, some of whom looked quite handy and useful. The play seemed faster with more quick thinking (and energy!!) and hopefully that bodes well for the future.
