Even more excited now. Thanks for the amazing prose. It was a life changing 45 minutes wasn't it? Here's to the next enjoyable 90. Or 120. And pens..? UTB ⚔
Absolutely brilliant. This needs to be recorded by Sean Bean, with stirring music playing behind it, and played over the loudspeaker system at Wembley at 4:49 tomorrow.
“But . . . half-time against Hull . . . giddy smiles were plastered all over the concourse” Absolutely! I’ll never forget that feeling – no matter what happened afterwards, and that strangely quiet, subdued walk back up Wembley Way – at least we had reason to be giddy just once.
“Jack Robinson, clanking gaffe-merchant turned cult hero turned clanking-cult-gaffe-hero-merchant.” I’m just focusing on ‘hero’. Well, you never know!
“So I can't wait to see this team at the national stadium, whatever happens.” Well said.
Lovely stuff. We can only beat the team in front of us, and who cares if this is effectively Mike Tyson v Walter from Dennis the Menace. The FA Cup always brings massive upsets and Man City won't enjoy playing a team who have something to prove and their name to uphold. Let's get at them.
“It's still one of my top five United goals – Scougs crashing the ball home, sparking Blades bedlam and befuddlement.” Yep, mine too!! And I bet Sougs will be boring his grandchildren with the “I scored at Wembley” story on repeat years from now . . .
And what if Sharp scores that elusive 250th goal, eh? Now that would go down in folk history!
“Defeat is all but certain and in that comes a kind of freedom, a release of pressure. What a chance this is to say thank you to a team, a squad, that really has done something remarkable this season.” Absolutely; I think they (and we) should all go there with the idea of “just enjoy yourselves”. A great occasion for the players (and Hecky, of course), especially those who’ve never played at Wembley before, and knowing you’re against one of the best teams in the world simply means no pressure. And, if course, in football, you never know . . .
Sue.
PS. Thanks for the new player descriptions – they’re brilliant!

So brilliantly written, and so accurate too. I think this sums it up perfectly, in feeling and prose.
See you at Wembley :)
To all Blades who manage to get there and the team. Nowt to lose. Just go and enjoy yourselves.

I mean 4:40, no point 5 mins in, we’ll be 3 down!
In a massive fail I am abroad and can’t go. So I am expecting this time we will win ⚔️
Thanks, John
