Ivo Grbic – 5
Just a standard goalkeeping performance, nothing outstanding, can’t complain either.
Jayden Bogle – 6
Generally did well defensively with a few big clearances and created a good chance for Brewster.
Anel Ahemdhodzic – 5
Similar to Grbic in the sense that he did everything you’d expect, nothing more, nothing less.
Auston Trusty – 5
Had a generally solid game, but I do have to question his positioning for the goal.
Jack Robinson – 5
Same as the other two CBs, no real errors and went about his business unspectacularly.
Yasser Larouci – 4
Put in a few absolutely dreadful crosses, but I think the pile-on for his part in Wolves’ goal was exaggerated. That being said, I do think he could’ve got tighter to his man.
Vinicius Souza – 6
Aside from trying to chin one of his teammates, I actually think Souza went under the radar today, some good tackles and didn’t make any real errors.
Oliver Norwood – 6
Did about as well as you can expect from Norwood in 2024. Boosted the team’s ability in possession and did well without the ball, not bad to say his legs have gone.
Gustavo Hamer – 5
Tough one to score because he created probably our best chance and always looks live to impact a game but had some quiet spells and cheaply gave away possession a few times.
James McAtee – 4
Disappointing and never really looked like he had the beating of his man, didn’t have much of a positive impact.
Rhian Brewster – 5
I recognise this will be controversial but I’m only grading him by the same criteria I grade everyone else. Despite working hard and chasing everything, he struggled to make it stick up front and skewed big chances. Hopefully, he can stay fit for a decent period, and this can be a performance to build on.
Thought Brewster did better than expected – he battled well (one challenge to get to a ball forward first half that looked more a 30-70 that he somehow slid to cleanly make his own and keep the attack going), and big miss aside took his efforts cleanly. He also looked quicker than he has for a long time – on the big 1 on 1 he does well to stay ahead of the defender as long as he does. McBurnie played in from the same position probably has to look for a pass about halfway to goal on the same path as he’d be caught – he actually looked like a player that was causing problems with his speed, and it’s encouraging that this player still exists.
Anel made a two or three rampaging runs deep into the opposition's territory. He's barely done that this season. More like the Anel of last season. It was a big plus to see it. He made some last gasp clearances too. Worth an extra mark. Robbo has been decent this season but subpar the past two games. Trusty played well. Agree about Norwood. I groaned when I saw him on the team sheet. But he was decent. He didn't give the ball away and didn't get caught in possession.
