Wes Foderingham – 6
Oh Wes, why do you do this to yourself? Two games in a row where he has been top-notch before dropping a clanger.
Jayden Bogle – 6
Got into some good areas going forward and ultimately just had a decent game, much improved under Wilder.
George Baldock – 4
Arguably lucky that this isn’t a 1 or a 2. George was shaky throughout, and fortunate that VAR was on our side today.
Jack Robinson – 7
Leader. Good performance once again under Wilder. Wins everything.
Auston Trusty – 5
Headed a few crosses away but still looks shaky with the ball and wasn’t alert enough defending when they scored.
Yasser Larouci – 7
Absolute rock at the back in the first half, made some very good tackles and had by far his best game in a United shirt. Unfortunately ran out of steam.
Anis Ben Slimane – 4
Not his day and these games are never likely to be. Not an effective player out of possession and that showed. Didn’t offer much going forward either.
Vinicius Souza – 6
Thought he was quite poor in the first half but came to life in the second and was dominant in the middle, then caught not tracking a runner once again for their goal.
Oliver Norwood – 7
Like Souza, I thought he started the game shakily but gradually grew into it and by the second half was showing his class. His willingness to receive the ball deep and try to progress us up the pitch is still underrated.
Andre Brooks – 7
Not massively involved in the game in possession but made some excellent tackles and the few touches he had, he impressed with.
Cameron Archer – 7
Was never massively involved in the game and had issues against Villa’s backline, didn’t win much + caught offside. Who cares about that stuff when he scores a goal like that though?
Starting XI Average – 6
Subs:
Max Lowe – 5
Looked alright when he came on, showed a lot of desire and decent going forwards but another one who must do better defending the goal.
Gustavo Hamer – 8
Came on and instantly made an impact. Extremely positive from the minute he crossed the white line and the class to set up the goal, sublime.
James McAtee – 6
Another player who gave us a big boost in quality at the top of the pitch when he came on. Seemed desperate to drive us forwards. Should’ve shot when he had the chance at the end though I thought.

Not sure Norwood did much at all to earn a 7. Otherwise marks are spot on.
