I wonder whether the move-upstairs suggestion is already something that’s been lined up. The recent Rosen interview (yes, I know, it’s mostly a waste of time) I think he talked about how the club wasn’t set up in a way to cope when Wilder was sacked, because of his involvement in everything at the club, but something along the lines of they’ve been getting processes in place to make sure this wouldn’t be a problem next time. Might that be what was the reason for that new contract? Some sort of understanding of staying as manager but if it doesn’t work out moving upstairs?
Excellent piece. We cannot continually keep on kicking the can down the road. However Chris Wilder’s positive contribution to our recent history is not in doubt and he remains an asset to the club whichever model is chosen going forward.
Totally agree. What happens off the pitch is as important as what happens on it. Currently the owners have a lot to answer and it's about time they did. I think CW is do8ing as well as he can with the hand that he has been dealt.
