I’ve recently been listening to a lot of podcasts about conspiracy theories. I’m not saying that this has necessary influenced what follows in this article, but it might have done.

It all started with the BBC’s online coverage of last season’s playoff semi-final. I am ashamed to say that I didn’t have the guts to follow the penalty shootout as it happened. I just checked the result once I was sure it was all over. But my cowardice, quite possibly, exposed me to a darker reality.
