You’re absolutely right about the 'old days'. My assistant at work was a Chelsea supporter (well, someone has to!) since birth, and so we had lots and lots of football related conversations, and this was certainly one of them. I guess it is an age thing, but certainly that “family tradition” has disappeared.
But then . . . this year has rolled round and suddenly it’s all-fascinating and all-magic again!
When the draw brought out Millwall’s ball number, it was a bit underwhelming, because we’re in the same league; there was no ‘giant killing’ possibility or playing a Sunday League Club who’d beat us because they were interested and we weren’t. But having won, it sparked a bit of interest and certainly Wrexham and Tottenham were thrilling encounters. And then Blackburn – again a team from the same league but wow, what a showcase for talent!
And so yes, having a match at Wem-ber-ly against Manchester City certainly does feel “new anorl” . . . and the magic has returned!
I hadn’t really thought about the “always sunny” thing, but you’re right. I particularly remember the Huddersfield one because I was thanking my lucky stars that I had a seat in the shade, looking at “you lot” lobster broiling in the sun. (Perhaps because we’re from “oop north”, we’d fare better if it was teeming with cold rain!)
The magic of FA cup well captured Sam and assume u will be there👍Enjoyed the memories....
I will be!
Thanks, Sam

Thanks Sue
You were lucky to miss the sun at Huddersfield. I guess that's why they call it the bleachers!?
