Forging ahead with The Pinch
If you value independent Blades content, now’s the time to back it – or to pick up a pen and get involved.
The curtain fell skewiff on what was another hope-that-kills-you Sheffield United season. But in 24/25, The Pinch is proud to say we’ve stayed true to our mission: giving Blades fans proper football writing, by proper fans who care, and actually paying them for it – a rarity in the modern football content world.
This year, we:
Paid our writers for their work throughout 2024/25 – something we’re determined to continue.
Donated £500 to Sheffield Children’s Hospital, thanks to the relentless perspiration of James Kemp and the unwavering commitment of Alan Pickard, who penned all but two of this season’s away day diaries (nobody needs a Wembley review).
Launched the Pinch Podcast, bringing a new analytical view to goings on.
Delivered player ratings for every game, thanks to Riley Roberts.
Were shortlisted for the FSA “Fan Media of the Year” – for the third year running. That’s not really recognition for us, but for the whole community of people who have contributed, read and listened throughout the season.
…And we’re not done. Not even close.
🔜 Coming soon:
Tomorrow: A big interview with Andy Watson (GBE Expert Hub) on overseas transfers and the edge the Blades could find.
Next week: Roy’s View from Social Media – the definitive round-up of Blades banter, insight and nonsense
Next few weeks: More analysis, more insight, more stories, more voices, more deep dives into matters on the pitch and off it…
If you’re reading this as a free subscriber, thank you. You’re part of what keeps us going. But if you can support us, now’s the time. A paid subscription costs £1/week (billed monthly) or 77p/week (billed annually).
It’s not just about getting more content, though you will. It’s about making sure this platform keeps going. Keeps paying its writers. Keeps publishing a good pinch of Blades stuff every week, all year round.
Want to write for us next season?
Got strong opinions, local knowledge or just a good story? We’re always on the lookout for new voices. Drop us a line.
Thanks for reading. Thanks for supporting. The fun — if that’s how you want to describe supporting Sheffield United — never stops.
UTB,
The Pinch
That's all very good to read. And thank you - all the team - for keeping everything co-ordinated throughout the year.
Best wishes,
Sue.
